Turn over a new leaf...

"A crisis is an opportunity riding the dangerous wind" ~ Chinese Proverb

I stare at this blank post, trying to figure out a way to write what I feel without sounding like I'm in a rant (which I'm not really). In recent times I've been feeling somewhat frustrated, discouraged and disheartened. Lots of things have been going on, forcing me to readjust and find inspiration in other things (hence the crazy amount of inspiration posts). Unfortunately, all teachers (including me) got laid off at the tutoring center because of lack of funds, we were told we'd be back by October. I've been trying to get a job in my field of study and been rejected to every position due to lack of experience, (how in the world will a recent grad have experience if no one provides them a chance to show themselves worthy!). I think this point has been what's taken over my sanity lately but...

I want to live life, I don't want life living me!*that's my new shirt*

So, I'm turning over a new leaf. I'm resorting to the first loves of my life, music and design, to keep me sane. Maybe life is sending me a message; it's time to be who you want to be. That's the reason why I applied for music school, I'm answering to the calling I feel in my heart. I'll always design (my love for accessory design will never die and I'll keep more and more busy with the shop now that I'm jobless).

It's time to take this hard time and turn it into something else, something that will change my life forever. Lol, I even prepared a list of things that I want to work on, if you guys have any ideas, share them with me! =)

1) I'm going to work into making this blog a lot more personal, not just inspiration and my fashion/style advice & ideas. I'll add more outfit posts, since I'm going to have more time to.

2) I'm going to be happier about things that occur, see an opportunity to grow and excel.

3) I'll keep you all posted about my new life as a music student (musicians are designers of melodies, lol) and how my personal style goes evolving.

Now about my new style image this semester...
I've been thinking I'd love to add some prep to my wardrobe, so I'm totally inspired by these:

Thanks for hearing me out everyone, any ideas you think I should incorporate or mix with my preppy chic fixation?
=D

  13. I think you should go for a bit of flower child mixed with preppy. Think flowing floral dress under a trim blazer.

  17. You should definitely get some over the knee boots. They are VERY in this fall, along with a one strapped dress...

Just my opinion :) Anything that makes you feel fabulous is worth it, right?

  19. Hello's hun, I can relate to this post of yours so much, life works in such funny ways it is so tough out there all that rejection makes you one tough cookie for the future. Its such a catch 22 being a graduate and its even worse if your creative too.
I wish you the best of luck, this is indeed your calling and your going to succeed and have the last laugh!

  23. Way to be positive despite life's challenges. I am proud of you and looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts, just take one day at a time. XO

  24. Aww. I really feel for you. :( Of course, as a semi-recent grad (it's going on two years for me!), I sympathize with not being able to find a job in this *swell* economy. :P All the jobs I've applied for require experience too... experience we can't get because companies want to give the entry-level to folks who've already been in the workforce for years so they pay them a mere pittance for all their expertise. It sucks! But hang in there; thankfully you've got brains and talent and a beautiful blog we love to come back to. :) Music school will be so fun! I recently got involved with a local theater production that pays nada, just so I can have that creative outlet I crave. My job sucks too! But we will persevere. And starving artists are just so glamorous... ;)

  31. Damn, sorry to hear about your job situation, but you are right to try to think of it as another door opening, rather than closing. On a lighter note, I'm so with you on the prep look for fall!

  32. hii..
please don't be sad, maybe you need to do internships before applying to those jobs, so you'll have experiments in the field before :)i'm a uni student just like you,i fall in love with design just like you,it's been my passion but i study Public Relations, and hoping to be a Fashion's PR someday,so i have to get an intern before applying,so cheer up :)

anyway, i love preppy styles,it's always my most favorite style to dress up when i go to uni, hope to see your outfit soon :)

  36. Haha, great tshirt! I love your new attitude and i hope you find a job soon! xx

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hey, I'm happy to read that list, and that you're thinking positive <3
I would never understand the fact of asking for experience to ppl that is just trying to find their *first* job, it's ridiculous...
but maybe you could find some internship, they don't pay or pay very little money but it counts as experience and maybe that would help you a lot. :-)
I've done a lot of that... so I understand you. :-p

    xx and smile!
