Yes, many of us right now are going absolutely crazy with Gossip Girl's Blair's headband look!
I don't watch tv much (actually not at all, Lol), however I love how Blair brings back the girly headband look into a totally new level!
So yeah, her designer headbands cost about what I earn in a week. That's why my sis and I decided to get our designing skills working and make some ourselves!
Now when can you use headbands?
I say anytime, anywhere!! You see, headbands compliment any outfit! If you are going to a formal event something in satin ribbon and beautiful, elaborate bows do the trick. If you're out to school a great, fun headband can make you stand out from the crowd. If it's for partying, something wild and attention-drawing will make you be noticed!
Here are some of the headbands my sis and I make and wear ourselves! If you like any, just go to our etsy shop, if we don't have what you are looking for send us a pic and we can make it for you!
What do you think are you madly in love with headband again? Do you love Blair's headband look?
Take care, until the next time!

Organic Fabrics
Lots of us are now being more concerned with the food we eat and the water we drink. Veggies and fruits are grown with pesticides and chemicals that are harmful for our bodies, meats aren't processed adequately and are fed hormones and proteins that affect our health negatively and the water we drink isn't pure. But what about the clothes that we wear? I mean clothes are in contact with out bodies 24/7. You're probably asking why clothes?Fabrics are made out of animal or plant fibers. Animals are fed chemicals to produce more wool etc. and "enhance" the quality of those fibers. Plants like cotton, are grown with chemical pesticides and fertilizers that are made out of components that are potentially dangerous to our bodies (skin etc.) So what to do?
Just like there is organic veggies and fruits and free-range meat and dairy products, there is organic fabric. Organic fabric is 95% or more made out of fibers that haven't been intervened with chemicals like pesticides and fertilizers and are grown in a natural manner. I mean about 1 pound of pesticides is used in just your regular tee and jeans!!
These fibers haven't been engineered, making them free of harmful junk and safe for human use. Now this method is very recent and a bit more expensive because of the raising conditions of animals and plants used but these are the pros:
1) Saving yourself and supporting the fact that pesticides, fertilizers, hormones and other chemical junk should not be used for humans.

2) Helping the environment. All that chemical junk won't end in your tap water or in your back yard soil.
3) You support small industries that dedicate to this and send out an alert to huge companies that things must change and they have to care about the consumer, not only about production.
So what do you think? Would you do the switch? Do actually use organic fabrics already? Let me know, hope you guys enjoyed the post, Until Next Blog!!
PS: if you want to get some organic fabric items, google it or check at Etsy.com lots of shops use organic for their designs!
What's the designer up to??
Lately I haven't told you what's up! It's been a while since we've had a nice chat. So this is what I've been doing and the thoughts that are going around in my head.
Ok, I've been ultra busy with my Etsy shop lately. After my day job at the tutoring center (yeah, haven't found a job in engineering yet) my shop occupies all my time. I added a few items like the one you see here inspired in the 40's and 70's.
Now about my fashion life, LoL, I'm seriously thinking about studying fashion online. I found a few cool schools that offer neat degrees, now like always; money is the problem, so I am now going crazy and saving everything I can to be able to enroll in the fall semester (that's the reason I decided to put some ads up). If I don't reach my goal, I guess I'll do the master's in urban planning or communications (I like both but don't think I could decide). These master's are cheaper and I can study them here. After that I'll move to New York and make another master's but in Fashion Marketing, c'cuz by then my sis will be almost done with journalism and we can both do master's there.
What else has happened? Umm... I guess that's about it! My life is pretty boring. Actually it's more like a neverending routine of everything happening over and over every day! Lol, oh well what do you think? Any advice or ideas for me? Hope I didn't bore you! Take care!
Street Fashion - Emo Fashion

You might be wondering, why am I writing about emo fashion? What is emo anyways? Emo fashion has been catching my eye for a while. Like I posted in the last blog, I love combining black with tons of colors and I think that is definitely what has me loving it.
Ok, here's the deal. Emo is a type of music that supposedly evolved from punk rock. It's short for emotional, since the songs are usually about broken hearts and strong issues and problems. The thing is that, just like punk had its own dress code; emo is doing the same. Emo fashion is mostly characterised for bright colors and black, skinny jeans/pants, converse or skate shoes and messenger bags with lots and lots of pins. There are different subdivisions in the emo fashion culture:
Indie Emo
- Faded, tight shirts with random logos bought from thrist stores. Vintage tees also work
fine. Oh and Hoodies are a must have! - Skinny jeans or pants. You can cuff the hems a bit.
- Converse sneakers! Black and blue low sneakers are the best.
- A black messenger bag with tons of pins, patches, ribbon.
- Lots of accessories. Beaded stuff, chains, bows and make-up.
Nerdy Emo
- V -neck tees in solid, dark colors and band tees that you buy in shows.
- Dickies pants in black and gray, or you can still wear skinnys.
- Black converse and argyle socks.
- Black Messenger bag with patches and pins.
- Pointdexter Glasses with black frames.
- Accessories like pen holders and such.
- Pea coats in dark colors or hoodies can also do the trick.

- Slacks
- Skinnys jeans/pants.
- Dr. Martens boots, converse and other black shoes.
- Black messenger bag with few pins and patches.
- Accessories like scarves, star necklaces, bracelets and earrings, pointdexter glasses and such.
make-up play an important part in the look, but that we'll discuss in another post!Tell me are you into it? Is it appealing to you? I'd like to know. Take care and until next blog!
Fashion Photoblog!! Great Fashion Designers and other Random Fashions
OMG, Michelle Obama and the girls Looked so Fashionable!!

Ok, truly I'm not a fan of criticizing people's wardrobe but today is an exception. I totally must comment on Michelle, Malia and little Sasha's attire.
I definitely love it when children are dressed as children. Really, nowadays children fashion is becoming more adult-like. It's like they take the same patterns and just shrink them! But back to subject, Malia and Sasha Obama were dressed in adorable coats from the J.Crew's kids' line Crewcuts. Malia looked adorable with her Royal Blue coat and black scarf. Little Sacha was super cute, with a peach and pink ensamble. Definitely, beautifuly dressed for the occation and totally appropriate for their age.
Now, lovely Michelle. Wow! I think that no matter what you wear, if you wear it with pride, elegance and complacency you will look stunning. That's Mrs. Obama's case. No matter what she puts on, she will make it shine because of her charm and that security she projects. She was wearing a beautiful yellow-gold ensamble with beautiful texture and elegance and gorgeous green heels. Also a beautiful Vintage style neckline adorned her dress. This was a beautiful design by Isabel Toledo, a great Cuban fashion designer.
What do you guys think? Were the girls incredably cute? And did Michelle's dress stun you or not? I'd like to hear your opinions. Take care!
Fashion Tips - How to Dress for all Seasons with only one Wardrobe!
This is something I've been developing for a while now. How to dress without having to shop every single season. Hope the tips are helpful!
Have some basic color and style garments in your closet
- Stay with solid colors and classic cut tops. Things like V-necks and such are great to achieve a variety of looks.
- Some boot cut pants, and/or some wide-leg or skinnys
- Jeans, khakis and some capris are great to own.
- Classic style skirts with hems above the knee.
- Winter and Fall - have some scarves, mittens and hats in different solid colors.
- Spring -Summer - nice jackets/blazers that go with whatever you already have in your closet
- Have earrings/necklaces/etc. that enhance you style; surfer stuff for summer, greens and reds for winter, browns for fall and cute bracelets in pastel colors for spring!
So what do you think? Lemme know, are you missing a few of these pieces, or can you survive one more year without shopping for clothes? Until next blog!
Fashion Tips - How to wear Skinny Pants !
There are a few tips we can all follow to be able to use skinny pants:
1) Take your time in the dressing room. Try on different brands before buying, remember they are all made with different cuts and patterns so you'll probably find the ideal one for you from trial end error. If skinny pants just don't work for you, choose straight legged jeans for the same look!
2) Choose skinny pants that are dark -if you are a bit round in the hip area. Dark colors have great slimming effects.
3) The pockets must be in the right place, not too high and not to low. If they are, those jeans are just making your behind be more noticeable.
4) Skinny Pants are not to be worn with big sneakers, they will make your feet look huge and out of proportion. Go for Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers, flats, sandals, heels or boots. They will give your leg balance and a nice slimming effect.
5) For tops, choose something baggy and comfy, not tight. You shouldn't wear tight pants and tight shirts at the same time. You can also pair up a cute short dress and wear skinnys instead of leggings, it will give you a totally modern look.
6) Don't get jeans you can't breathe in! What's the point of looking great if you can't feel great.
Hope these tips help you achieve that super hip look you're trying to find and remember, find they style you feel most comfortable with!
Fashion 101 - Vintage Style!
Haven't you ever heard: This celeb is wearing this Vintage dress... Well, let me fill you in on a few details. Firstly, Vintage fashion are garments, jewelry and such that are conserved from previous eras. For an item to be Vintage, it must be approximately 20 yrs old. So the term Vintage fashion is sometimes used incorrectly; referring to Vintage Inspired fashions.
Vintage Inspired Fashions are new garments designed to resemble those of other times. Knowing this, we can differentiate between a real Vintage garment and an Inspired one.
All previous eras: Medieval, Victorian, the 20's, 30's up til the 80's; are Vintage. So where can I find Vintage garments? Your granny's closet! No, really! Also there are stores on the web that sell Vintage clothes/jewelry. You can also check your nearest Antique Store, or maybe your thrift and consignment stores might have some interesting items.
Dressing Vintage is also a great way of Going Green. Yes, you are reusing and recycling fabrics, metals, plastics and so on.
I'd like to inspire you all and show you a time line of different Vintage fashions that have been alive. Hope you enjoy them! They will be inspiring me and my sis this next season with out new designs for our shop!
Victorian Era
Lovely 20's
Beautiful 30's
Gracious 40's
Unforgettable 50's
Groovy 60's

I'd like your opinions, which did you like best? And are you into Vintage or totally Modern?
Take care until next blog!
How to Dress Fashionable - Shopping from the Clearance Section

Does that story sound familiar? Well let me tell you, it happens to everyone! However learning and going through tough times make you a smarter and stronger shopper. Yes, stronger because you can withstand the temptations that the devilish store clerk throws at you.
I'm going to teach you to shop smartly. How to get a lot more for a lot less. What's the point of getting a $50.00 shirt if you can get five shirts with $50.00, see what I mean?
Rules for Shopping Smartly out of the Clearance Section:
1) Block out any offer store clerks recite as soon as you enter a store. Just pretend you heard them, say Thank you politely and move on. Because if you do listen, you'll think it's a good deal and chances are you'll end up paying for stuff you weren't after in the first place.
2) Stick to your budget! Yes, brainwash yourself into it. It takes practice and a lot of will but it is possible to train yourself to do this - believe me.
3) Walk directly towards the clearance section. The clothes/shoes/accessories there are truly for a fraction of a cost unlike those other store offers like "buy one and the other half price". These offers make you spend more -what if you only need a pair of pants, why get two and spend more cash?
4) That shirt/blouse/pants/shoes will be there unlike the store clerk says. Stores have a
collection they must sell every season so they will keep on bringing that same item until the season is over. Usually every Wednesday is restocking day, so those are the best days to get the new items since they just got there. Now, you can do what I do - wait until the season is over and buy that item when it is in Clearance! You can get it for a huge discount and you won't feel so bad that you spent too much.5) Try checking if the store has a website and compare prices. I've done this a million times and sometimes it's a smarter deal to shop online.
6) More for Less not Less for More! That is my motto. You can make different combos with 4 pieces of clothes than with only two.
7) Check your closet and ask yourself: what do I NEED! And basing on this you shop. Sometimes we don't need a new wardrobe, we just need to freshen it up. Think what pieces could help you give your old stuff a make over. Usually accessories can make a huge difference.
8) If you are going to sin and pay $40.00 for that item, put it down, leave the store and think about it. The pressure of being in the store and having the clerk/friends/family encouraging to buy will not help you make a smart decision.

9) Shop at the end of the seasons to get better deals. Like I said in earlier posts: if you don't need sweaters/coats now and you can spare a little cash, why not stock up?
These are the rules that I use myself when shopping. Being raised in a family with money problems has helped me train myself into spending money wisely -because money only came around very few times a year. So yeah, I had to buy more for less and make sure it would last me a while.
I hope these tips will help you a lot! Tell me what do you think? Do you have any other ideas/strategies when shopping? I'm looking forward to your comments! Take care and until next blog!

Saturday's Random Feature! (Jan. 10, 2009)
She started selling on Etsy: "I started selling on Etsy in January of 2008. I found Etsy by googling "handcrafted". Once you see the front page of Etsy, you never forget it! I have been addicted since!"
Her fave piece in her shop:
Oregon Sunset
These earrings are incredibly beautiful. I think they would do great with any outfit! We have discovered another beautiful treasure Etsy has to offer. Now you know about it, so go check it out! Take care and until the next blog!!
Finding your Perfect Little Black Dress
Finding that perfect little black dress is possible! Yes, media shows you that you must be tall, long legged and incredibly thin to wow with one - but that is a lie! You just have to find the perfect one for your body type. Now this can be a little tricky, so grab a tape measure and lets get started. There are five (5) body types. We'll go step by step discussing them.
The Hourglass figure:
Women with this body type usually have mid- large breasts, a small waist (like 10 inches in difference) and curvy hips. (This one's my body type)
If you are this body type wear dresses with V neck tops with panels or darts and an A-line skirt.
Inverted triangle or Apple shape:
Your shoulders are usually larger than your hips and your bust is generally large.
With this body type, never, ever accentuate the upper half. You have enough attention there already. Instead concentrate in accentuating your waist line with a fitted or pencil skirt.
Rectangle/Straight/Athletic body type:
Girls with this body shape have a very small difference between bust and hips (like maybe 4-5 inches).
Now girls with this body type should accentuate hips. Try belts, an empire shape dress and some stitched lines 3 inches under your bust. Play around with scoops and V-necks.
Triangle/Pear shape:
Women with this body type have hips that are very round and larger than their shoulders.
Wear a dress with a well fitted top and straight skirt. It should fall straight from the hips so it can create a minimizing visual effect in your lower half.
Pear shape/Big hips and Small bust:Enough said. Your body is most flattered with bustiers, strapless and empire waist dresses. Anything that brings a little attention to your upper half and give the impression that you have a pronounced waist line will do you great.
Little Special Details
Picking the perfect hemline:
If you want to make a good inversion and buy a dress for any occasion, the perfect hemline for you is on top or below the knee. You can't go wrong with that classy length, it works for work and play. If it's for playtime only, mid-thigh and 2 inches above the knee is perfect. If you are petite (like me! -I'm only 4'11") never, ever get a half calf length dress! It will make you shorter and you'll look horrid.
Have a tummy?

Please don't wear control products. There really is no point in hiding who you are and it just makes you look and feel worse about yourself. if you want to hide your waistline, bring attention to your hips.
Well girls, now you know how to pick that perfect dress that flatters you. Tell me what's you body type and any other special secrets you'd like to share to find that one dress!
Until next blog!

Featuring You! (Jan. 7, 2009)
Today's first shop is blackcatboutique. The shop is totally unique, you definitely have to check it out!
She started selling on Etsy because "was looking for a place to sell my handmade items after I left a booth in a mall. I found etsy by doing a search on the Net. I find this so much easier than having my on site, better exposure".

Unfortunately, I couldn't open the link that revealed that fave item, so instead I'll show you my personal fave in the shop:
Ziggy Scarf: This is a beautiful piece. I love the colors and textures it has. It gives you a warm and jovial feeling.
That is a beautiful piece indeed. Now if you like it as much as I do, go give it a look!
Super, now our second feature of today is thesugarbee. The store owner is Rebbeca Stoneback and she is a jewelry design
er. She started selling on Etsy because: "I started selling my glass jewelry on Etsy because I loved the idea of a website that was so easy to sell and buy things from and had such a amazing variety of all handmade items. I got started in a afternoon of just taking photos , writing descriptions, and posting away".Her fave piece in her shop is:
Eat me (Alice's Adventures In Wonderland). A very creative and unique necklace inspired in one of my fave childrens' book; Alice in Wonderland. I love how gorgeous this piece is, it would make a perfect gift for any girl. Love it!!
Great shops! It's incredible the amount of talent Etsians have!! Horray for Etsy! Give these shops a look, you might find something you'll fall in love with.
Tell me what's your fave and why? Do you want to be featured too? Also let me know. Until next blog guys, have fun until then!
Found a Great School, but I'm broke...
I finally found my dream school for fashion: The Academy of Art University in Los Angeles,CA. They have a great Masters degree in Fashion Marketing! Their curriculum is a dream and best of all it's online!! That means I don't have to move and can stay home and keep my part time job at the tutoring center and help my family out! (Reason I don't have a job in engineering is that I apply like crazy but no one calls :( )
Now, the only problem is that the degree is worth like $46,000. I wouldn't like to get into debt because I'm helping my family to get out of them. I started my Etsy Shop out to get some extra income for my sis' and my studies (she's in journalism school) but I didn't have $46,000 in plan. I'd like to figure out a way to save at least $8,000 before the fall 2009 semester starts. I really don't want money to be the reason I can't follow my dream. So yeah, If you guys have any ideas that can help me generate some cash, please let me know Okay?
Tomorrow I'll be featuring some new shops so make sure not to miss it. Take care!! and Until next blog.
Dress Fashionable with a Really Tight Budget
Shop in thrift stores:
Thrift stores are shops that sell used (but in great condition) clothing, shoes and accessories donated by other people. Usually thrift stores are owned by charities, they sell
their items very cheap and most of the moeny goes to a good cause. So here you help yourself get some new stuff and you are supporting something great.Shop in consignment stores:
These shops recieve and sell used/great condition clothing. You take your clothes and they give you some money back if they sell it (but they stay with a persentage) or they give you credit so you can get some clothes from the same store.
Shop at the end of a season:
Why? Because stores need to make room for their new inventory, that's why! You can find clothes to up to 75% in discount. Don't need winter clothes until next winter? Well, even better stock up now and you don't have to buy later!
Hold a huge yard sale:
Yes, take all that clutter and sell it. If you don't have any cash to buy clothes in the first place, sell clothes you haven't worn in 3 months. Or sell up some other stuff you have lying around. Please don't think "I might need this later". Whatever you haven't used in a while (unless it's like antique
or really important) sell and make some money out of it. I think this is a good idea for families that have kids that need new school clothes, backpacks etc.Hope all this info makes you a teeny bit richer in knowledge and in your pockets. Let me know what you all think! What do you do to get the "latest fashions" without going broke? Have a cool idea? Tell us!! Well until next blog, take care!
