Gossip Girl Headbands Galore!!

Sorry for not posting for a while, I've been really busy creating lovely headbands and jewelry for FunnyPeopleCo (a.k.a our shop). And so you all have an idea, this season we have been really inspired by Gossip Girl and Blair's lovely girly girl headband trend.

New york Fashion Week 2009!

New york Fashion Week 2009 is finally here and well all those that have presented their collections have done a brilliant job. Today, I decided to show you some of my fave designs for this season so, I hope you enjoy them!

All Girls are Beautiful!!

Media has been feeding our girls (and boys!) that there are certain standards to be considered beautiful and attractive. Unfortunately, our youth has assimilated them as true and as you can see, they struggle with so many complexes and issues like eating disorders, identity problems and other psychological problems that we probably didn't have growing up.

I am a fashion lover, and at least for me it's sad that our society has been taught that to be fashionable, in, hip or whatever you have to be thin to fit in designer clothes. I truly differ, I'd like to see more realistic models down the runway.

Browsing the internet the other day, I discovered that Dove is working on this awesome campaign to exalt real life beauty, not that photoshoped stuff you see in magazines and ads.

It's called the Campaign for Real Beauty. I saw the videos they had on their site and they are so touching! That's exactly why I'd like to share them with you. I want every boy and girl out there to know that they are precious creatures, individuals and beautifully special.

Obama Crazy Fashion

Guillermo Mariotto, a fashion designer for the Gattinoni house in Italy has designed a kaftan with President Obama's face printed on it and another gown was dedicated to First Lady Michelle.

Yep, just as you can see here, our President has even inspired fashion designers! I think this is pretty cool, but a tad scary. In my opinion one must be able to express admiration, but I think that a President is something pop-culture shouldn't mess around with. I mean it's great to admire their style, their example as a wonderful family and to exalt them as what they are: the Nation's First Family. But bringing them down to "celebrity level" is not a very respectful thing to do.

Now my artistic side says it's a beautiful piece, wonderful blend of colors and beautiful movement, but at the same time I can't help comparing this to having Hannah Montana in a bunch of T-shirts at Wal-Mart.

So what do you think? Do you have split feelings like me, do you think the piece is stuning, or is it just plain wrong?

Spring Fashions 2009 - The 70's and 80's are back!

Spring is just a few months ahead, so we must start thinking about leaving those heavy coats and snow boots in the closet and bringing out some lighter attire.

This Spring and Summer seasons will be a blast from the past as jumpsuits, polka dots, bows and lots of frills will make most of us remember those great days back in the 70's and 80's.

So, What's hot this season?

Hot Colors - Spring's bringing back lots of nude, neutral and transparent garments, beautiful Royal Blues, metallic golds and silvers and tropical colors like oranges and yellows.

Hot Prints - Polka Dots and exotic tropical prints.

Hot Jumpsuits - Yep, they are back too! Figure tight suits with neat candy stripes and leopard prints are back to haunt us (LOL)

Hot Hot Pants - They are going to be around for a while longer!

Hot Dress Pants - Cigarette Pants are in, and trousers with floral, tropical prints are having their comeback. Skinny pants are staying for a while longer and I betcha stores are filled with them already.

Hot Jackets and vests- Vests are available in an incredible amount of styles (from short to long, tunic styles)and are a great piece to give your wardrobe versatility.
Jackets with rolled sleeves, baggy blazers and anything that gives you that 80's feel is totally welcome!

Hot Accessories - Bug eye glasses, lots of punky lace, chandelier earrings, big necklaces are some of the awesome accessories that are coming back.
