Vogue Italia's Homage to an Environmental Disaster

As we all know, Steve Meisel is rather the extravagant photographer and visionary. Word goes around that fashion bloggers are hating this editorial, calling it irreverent and a mock to the environmental disaster we are going through not only with various oil spills but with many other problems.

I actually like it, I feel it represents bluntly what is to happen to the human race if we keep this behavior up, and it is only up to us to put a stop. We are already covering various species with oil, pollutants etc. and, it's only time that it'd soon reach us.

What do you think?

  1. That's amazing! Thanks for sharing.

I love that the fashion industry is starting to see the problems, I just hope it can change itself.

  2. I think that's it's nice to see the fashion industry comment about and calling attention to current issues, but at the same time a part of me thinks that the platform of using fashion shoots is beautifying the disaster and making it seem not as harmless.

I'm confused and sitting on the fence as usual. But it's definitely interesting to see these :)

  3. I believe that sometime you have to shock people in order to bring more attention. Obviously unless you live near the oil spill and the areas effected by the disaster it be hard to comprehend.

  11. I heard about this and I still haven't seen the whole editorial.
from what I have seen though, it doesn't look like it was created to mock the situation but to highlight it.
