Fashion 101 - How to Wear Floral Prints

Spring is finally here -tho it really isn't much different living in a tropical island where its darn hot all year long - however along with spring comes those lovely floral prints that we just love to wear around this time o' year.

You might think that picking up whatever floral shirt would flatter you, but think again - floral prints are not inoffensive. It depends a lot not only on your particular style, but on your body type.

So make sure to follow these little tips to rock this trend as it should:

1. If you are petite/ small framed: avoid huge prints in shirts, blouses, dresses, you name it. Big floral prints make you look a tad unproportioned and make you look fuller -go with the look if you are after that looking fuller appearance.

2. If you are average/kinda tall/average frame: totally go for it -yes, I am envying you right now, lol. Big floral prints are just another everyday thing to you and would only do you good.
3. If you have a full body type/large breasts/or really curvy: avoid the the big print in those areas because that will magnify those body parts we'd like to slim down, so small and medium floral prints it is for you also.

Hope these little tips help and just remember, style and dressing up is all about having fun.

Are you going crazy over the floral trend??

**LITTLE ANNOUNCEMENT (yes I had to use the caps, lol): Our Spring Collection is almost ready @ the Shop so guys stay tuned for more headbands and now including embellished tights and shirts!**

Sponsor Spotlight - Twila's Vintage

The lovely Twila of Twila's Vintage was sweet enough to share some of her inner most secret thoughts on vintage in this adorable interview...

If you were any garment in your closet, what would you be and why?
I would have to be my vintage redish brown leather over the knee boots. They are fabulous. They have a pocket on the side and are so very comfortable. I have had them for two years and get compliments on them each time I wear them. I would want to be them because as this vintage boot I would see more of the world than the rest of the clothes and shoes in the same closet (cause I pretty much wear them with everything.) I would also be a very confident boot cause everyone would love me. ( I am pretty sure every one of my frienRemove Formatting from selectionds have worn these amazing vintage finds and ask to wear them any chance they get.)

If you could dress any personality in any era, who would that be an why?

I know I should pic someone not from this era cause that would be the vintage lovers thing to do. Ha but I have a different choice. I would want to dress like Katy Perry on stage. I love her playsuits and short panty like onesies. I would want to wear those while rocking out. Her vintage style is also great. I would probably want to throw in a mix of Lady Gaga for a few days to spice it up a bit. Katy is pretty much my fav!

Tell us something about yourself and about your shop.
I just started my shop October of last year. I was working an 8-5 for a brief period and knew that I was not an 8-5 kind of girl. I now am loving what I do and love the added benefit of getting to wear what I want to work. Ha at my last job I was asked to not wear a few things because they were too stylish for my job. Yea thats what I was told. Ha.

Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M

The collection we've all been waiting for so anxiously has finally hit stores!
So, I might have to go hunting for it on ebay since H&M does not ship to where I live; I am still equally in love with this wacky set of neon and black colors. What do you like about the collection?

An Angelic Point of View - Part II

As you all may know, I fell in love with the beautiful work of young photographer Angelica Minier; a friend of my sister's who's way of portraying life from the lens is unique. Btw, she'll be working on the photography of FunnyPeopleCo's Spring '10 collection, so I'm totally psyched to be working with her.
The first part of her interview is here, if you'd like to check it out.

Tell us about you, do you study photography?

I'm studying Hispanic Studies while taking pre-med classes. I'm planning to go the School of Medicine and then I'll specialize in psychiatry. Apart from the literature and photography, the two things that excites me the most. I am among those who thinks that it is not necessary to study photography. You just need to know how to use the camera and the rest is determined by you, using your imagination and your fingers you can create magic. It was hard to take the decision of following medicine as a career, but I eventually realized that literature and photography will always be a part of my life in one way or another, while medicine is a career that requires time and effort and I can not let it pass, because if I take another route it would be very difficult to turn back.

And what do I do? Well I do things that makes me laugh, that makes feel alive, that makes me dream a little bit but not too much that I can't recognize reality, and I like to "be", the simple fact of "being" is what at the end of the day makes us feel complete.

Do you have a message for those that feel that photography is their true calling and want to follow in your footsteps?
If you want to pursue photography all you have to do is grab a camera and start taking pictures of everything you want to capture. Do not take photos of anything for the sake of pressing the shutter bottom, take photos of anything you want to last forever. Regarding photography, I think there is nothing worse than an empty image, and there is nothing better than and image that speak for itself, you must always make valid this quote: a image is worth a thousand words. You don't need to have a professional camera (I started with a simple one), you just need creativity, and to put soul into every photo. It is a wonderful art and if you decide to pursue it you will love a little more with every photo.

New York Fashion Week - Part II Fast Forward

This New York Fashion Week was incredible! Ok, there were some designs that did disappoint me like Rodarte *cough cough* but overall every designer had something totally incredible to offer.

Fast Forward New York Fashion Week Begins...

Rodarte
this makes me feel I'm being kidnapped by the evil forces of mutant curtains -sorry =/
Proenza Schouler was just brilliant!
I love Milly's Upper East Side, Gossip Girly looks.

Nanette Lepore is dangerously sweet!
Oscar de la Renta... speechless.
Love this Phillip Lim number, that pants are incredible! What designs did you Love & Hate this NYFW??

Another Sleeping Beauty...

A sweet breeze visited her each night,
While an angel watched her sleep...
On her pillow she had written,
Every tear, every sigh, every weep...

As whimsical and beautiful a dream might feel, and as wonderful that Oscar de la Renta gown looks on you, there is always a time where you must wake up and face reality...
And right now, I don't feel like waking up... unless something great is waiting for me in real life.

Are you another sleeping beauty?

***PS: the winner of my last giveaway is WILDasaMINK, Congrats girl! I'll be contacting you pretty soon***

Under the People Tree

Emma Watson is out to steal our fashion hearts! Her new line, People Tree, is an incredible collection of sweet, comfy garments made with eco-friendly, organic materials.

I think I've said in other posts that I absolutely hate stars designing without setting foot in a design school, but for some reason Emma is an exception to me. She has proven to have an exquisite taste for style. What do you think??
