The Blog Makeover - part II

UPDATE: due to everyone seeing different things I'm changing the decor around again, lol. Thanks you guys for the feedback. I'll be tweeking stuff.

Hey everyone! Small little update. I'm wondering how the blog looks in your monitors and such. Can you see the template well? The background underneath the template is like a bone white color.
I'm kinda asking because I don't want it to look weird.
So if you guys can give me a little feedback on that, it would be marvelous.

Blog Meets Blog - Vogue Before Food

The blogosphere can be a haunting and daunting place however, hidden in this huge, overwhelming world we find incredible people that not only share similar style perspectives but you can relate to, form friendships and walk the dark paths of the fashion blogging realms with.

Ok, ok so the fashion blogging world really isn't scary at all, I just wanted to add the drama -lols.
I want to share with you all blogs that I discover or that otherwise, discover me.
I'm planning on making this a regular, so here's to the first Blog Meets Blog post!

Vogue Before Food
Vogue Before Food's lovely Courtney has one heck of a style sense and I interviewed her with some ultra fun questions:

What would your food pyramid look like? what are those "food" groups you must have and it's proportions?
The base of the pyramid, for me, is dresses for two reasons: one, I think dresses have the most expression, personality and potential to show style. There can be amazing detail in a dress that is more visible than on a top or bottom, whether that design is intricate beading, cut-outs, or just amazing lines or draping. You can tell the designer of a dress just by looking at it. It's like a blank canvas for the interpretation of trends and inspiration. I feel like every dress is a little bit of wearable art, from the construction and silhouette to the color and print - which is why I think dresses are most worthy of a splurge. The second reason dresses are a base for the pyramid is the simple fact that a dress is its own outfit, so everything else - from shoes to sweaters and jackets to accessories - can be styled around it. By that logic, everything is secondary to a dress.
The second level would be made up of bottoms and tops to create outfits, the third level would be jackets and outerwear to top the outfits off. The fourth would be shoes, because they have the power to make the whole outfit. Next up are accessories and jewelry, and the smallest part of the pyramid, for me personally, are handbags. I'm not a big handbag girl, probably because i never have time to switch all my stuff into different bags!

You're throwing a party, what's on the menu?
I think the perfect party outfit - when you're throwing it - has to be both fabulous and comfortable, a hard combination to find. But, you have to look amazing, and shine as the hostess. The only way you'll do that is if you're comfortable, too, because you have lots to tend to, and you don't want to be pulling at your outfit or limping in your shoes. Vintage is a great way to go when dressing to host a party, since you want to look unique and wear a real conversation piece. A great 1960's mod dress or a sequined number circa the 1980's will make you feel like a rock star. Or, wear your favorite designer, the one you feel makes perfect, timeless pieces and that you are comfortable in. I'd have to choose Marc Jacobs or Thread Social, personally!

Gimme candy! Which are your sweet, fave garments?

Specifically? Things I crave (and can actually afford once in a while, lol) are dresses from Marc by Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, Thread Social, See by Chloe, Catherine Malandrino, Leifsdottir, Nanette Lepore, Mara Hoffman, Seneca Rising, Opening Ceremony - plus great finds like vintage dresses and sequined tops, leather shorts, pleated or draped tops, shredded tops, nautical blazers, studded caftans from places like Rock.Paper.Vintage (eBay), NastyGal, Asos, ModCloth, Bona Drag and Pixie Market - and I'm a sucker for H&M. Oh, and shoes by Irregular Choice! I just like anything different looking. If it doesn't catch my eye the first time, I don't want it. I look for details, and my style is very vintage meets girly-frilly meets East Village rock scene.

Hope you guys loved her!

Trust only in your shoes...

Have any of you had that period in life where you aren't sure of what surrounds you; who truly is your friend or enemy, if the people you believe in and admire really are worthy of your admiration, if you are in the right place, if you are doing the right thing, if the people you trust or dislike deserve those treatments?
Well, unfortunately I am. I find myself reevaluating everyone and everything.
I can only give one advice to myself...
...when lost, trust only in your shoes.

They will take you to the right places, make you feel like a princess and give you the confidence you need to overcome anything. At least I believe so. =)

Oh and thanks you guys for your awesome ideas, I'm working on some things so if you happen to walk by the blog and see things out of place, that's me twitching around (html is not my best friend lols).

TheBlog Makeover

Finally Summer Vacation's here and just like I'm giving my room, wardrobe and everything else a makeover, I was thinking of doing the same with the blog.
I feel that I've grown up a little since I started this little fashion sanctuary and I feel that it is time for a little change.
So here's the thing, I NEED your opinions and ideas. I'm horrid at deciding things so, I'd love it if you guys could give me some ideas on color schemes, designs, what to add, what to get rid of, ANYTHING would be lovely.

Beauty & the Beast - Vouge

Beauty & the Beast will always be my all-time fave Disney movie. The message behind it; a girl that is strong, smart, cunning and thirsty for knowledge has always touched me and, in a certain way, defines my personality.
I found this sweet Vogue editorial inspired by the classic tale staring the lovely Drew Barrymore.

Life is made of choices...

Sorry for the short hiatus guys, but guess what, it did pay off! I passed my music jury test -tho I'm still wondering how since I was laughing my head off every 3 measures! Yes, I laugh insanely when I'm nervous.
Truly, I never thought I'd get this far...

Anyhoo, I wanted to thank you all for the good wishes, you all are the sweetest!
Now that Summer Vacation has officially arrived I've got a ton of stuff I need to do and get done -school always gets in the way of the good stuff doesn't it?

Thanks for answering the little poll I was running a few days ago. The DIY tutorial I'll work first -since it was the winner - is the "embellish your t-shirt with zipper flowers" tutorial. I'll be working on it sometime soon.

For now, I'm up for a nap, lol.

Girl Pulling Her Hair Out!!!

Yes, literally. I'm a girl that's pulling her hair out. This I believe, is going to be the hardest weekend of my life! Finals are next week, my first music jury test; the test that defines if I pass my music theory class is this Tuesday. Ok, so every music student is quite traumatized right now (I'm not the exception), passing every free second practicing sightsinging and rhythm reading. Why's the exam so hard and why are we shaking like little leaves on a windy day you ask? Simple. In the test we get to read sheet music we've never seen in our lives.
So, until Tuesday afternoon I'm going to be hiding in my little cave -err room- practicing like crazy and trying not to stress out and go bald, lol.
Sorry for not answering your comments, I promise to do so as soon as final week is over.
Wish me luck guys.
XD

Top Movies for Fashion Inspiration

Summer Vacation is almost here (in about 2 weeks, finally!) and besides working on the Summer Collection of the shop and sleeping, I have an incredible list of movies to treat myself to and yeah, get some ideas for designs from.

THE LIST:
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Lots of glamour, little black dresses and classic NYC daydreaming.

Bonnie & Clyde (1967)
Mean girl with one heck of a style sense. Lots of berets and pencil skirts.

Grease (1978)
Pink Jackets, pantsuits and all the 50's-60's deal.

Clueless (1995)
90's fashion galore! Short skirts, plaid, knee-high socks and insan
e hats.

Marie Antoinette (2006)
Eye candy, must I say more?
Sex and the City: The Movie (2008)
Drooling NYC style and the life every fashionista deserves!

Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)
This is actually my fave-fave out of the whole list. I just can relate so badly to it! No one can treat you as well as a store can... lol! btw, that is kinda how my room looks like -I'm not saying it's messy, it's somewhat cluttered. =)

Any Fashionable flicks worth recommending??

Free hugs from me...

Doesn't the world need a little more spontaneity, a little more empathy and a whole lot of caring? Wouldn't this world be a better place if we hid our differences in cabinets and focused on what we do have in common to make things work? If we could all pitch in and give some of our time, our energy to change this chaotic globe...
Sometimes it only takes one word, a small action, a smile to make a difference in someone's life; in someone's world.
You willing to give out free hugs, free smiles, free laughs, free time, free insert action of your choice here to make this planet somewhat better?

Alexander Wang & Vena Cava hit Gap

I have a feeling that I won't be having that much left over cash this Summer. Why, oh why are designers teaming up with affordable brands?? Ok, it is a good thing, but it's gonna leave me broke!
I mean after J.P. Gautier's and Zac Posen's (tho I was kinda dissapointed with Zac's - the prices are a tad out of my league; I am a poor college student after all) collections with Target and now Alex Wang & Vena Cava bringing the khaki deal back to life (and to my closet) I won't have any spending money left over for ice cream.

However the pieces are pretty imaginative.
Safari anyone??

Well yes, I wanted this blog to be like a diary of everything fashion that went through my mind. I at the time, didn't have anyone to share fashion and style related things so I NEEDED a way of ventilating all that. =)

Thanks guys for your questions it was pretty fun answering them!

Ask me anything...

I'm not really in much the mood to write today, having some genuine trouble at work that kinda has me all blah-ish.
So instead, write on some questions -since I don't think I'll ever have a formspring - and ask away here. Ask anything you want to know about me. =)
It's been a while since I've done a Q & A so take advantage of the opportunity, lol.

Sweet night guys.
