Surf's Up! - The Must Haves for Summer 2010

Summer is officially here, though it doesn't really feel so here since it just doesn't stop raining! However those of you that can soak up the sun rays (use sunscreen please) might be interested in knowing what's going to be trending this season.

Polka Dots!
Polka dots come back for another season of fun dotting, so make sure to own something allusive to this trend, make it a headband, a shirt of even your short shorts!Tribal Prints!
Avatar left us craving for tribal prints and dark, muddy palettes. This craze will probably die with the lovely, warm sun when Summer is over so, if you can afford it, grab a few garments and complete your one-hit Summer Season Wardrobe.
Nautical Style
Dreaming we are cruising on a yacht is now all the more possible with the gorgeous dresses and shirts that are available this season. Stripes and cute anchor buttons are all aboard!
Tie-Dye
Yes, a blast from the 90's is back to say hello! Grab a tie-dye shirt or make one yourself this Summer and pair with some shorts, sandals and sunglasses and head out to beach. Can't look cooler than that.
Floral Prints
Still with us is the floral print that has been accompanying us since last Spring. A sweet Sunday dress, a maxi dress or a long sleeved floral print button up shirt with some shorts and tennis shoes are the way to go to get rid of the heat.**this little number is a F21 dress I am drooling over**

What are you wearing this summer?,

Monsters under the bed...

Another non-fashion post for the collection. Have any of you experienced the feeling that you are simply your worst enemy and you try running away so bad from something - not knowing that maybe you are trying to run away from yourself?

The Father's Day Post

Father's day really isn't one of my fave holidays. I quite avoid even leaving the house during this day because, well it's a tad painful for me to see people of all ages with their dads together and smiling. This is even a topic I try avoiding for as long as I can. I don't like remembering the sad parts of my relationship with my father; seeing him leave, never knowing about him after his departure. I like keeping in mind that I'm still daddy's little girl that enjoyed playing soccer with him and standing around observing him sew and learning the craft (that's where the designing skills come from) and just resting in his arms; that's how I rather remember him.

It's already been 10 years since he left and we last heard of him, and even though every Father's day I do feel jealous of those others that have their dads around, I've always hoped that maybe somewhere, he might be missing us too, and maybe deep down he wishes to rewind all those years of being absent from my sister's and my life.

*just if you wonder, I'm the oldest one in the pics*

Happy Father's Day!
... and papa, if you ever read this, we adore you too and hope you're having a great father's day wherever you are.

**PS: sorry for the sad post, it's just something I had to get out of my system**

... for Summer is short.

... for summer is short I'll pack my bags and embark on a journey with only myself as company. I'll tip toe out the door, not making a sound, as quiet as a wee little mouse. A little escape, new and different, I'll ride the train with no fixed destination. Skate around, walk about, my only friend's an old guitar...
For summer is short, there's so much that can draw a smile on your face...
~excerpts of my little random ramblings.

Got some summer fever. Some sweet summer inspiration for all you guys. =)
How's Summer Vacation treating you?

Cross Dressing -DIY Tutorial by Nylon Mag

Browsing around Nylon Magazine I found this really neat tutorial for a remake of Jeremy Scott's gold cross-studded dress on the "church of Fashion" runway show.

I'm posting the instructions here at the blog, but if you want to read the whole article just click here.

1. Find a long - sleeve black velvet dress (either bought or something vintage for fun)
2. Go bead hunting at your nearest craft store and get some crosses and fun stuff to sew onto your shirt.
3) Get home, fetch some thread and a needle and sew them in a pattern.

Nylon's rendition of the gorgeous dress for less.

Voila!

Alice in Wonderland Fever of 102

I've been a horrid blogger, leaving my little diary unattended for so long (yes, almost five days is an eternity) but I've been quite sick lately and haven't really been able to set myself to finishing my new blog template (hence the old one is back) or to do any updating or commenting on any of your blogs - but I'll make it up to you all I totally promise.

However, feeling a tad remorseful; I got myself off my bed and to my computer to drop you all a few lines. My Alice in Wonderland fixation has returned; my sister just received her copy in the mail and I can't wait to watch it for the nth time -I watched like 4 times in the movies I think. I remembered Vogue's Dec 2003 editorial and decided to post it to celebrate.
